In loving memory of
Mr Robert (Bob) Brown
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities,
nor present things, nor future things, nor powers,
nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature
will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
Bob would be known to many families as he was the founding principal of Good Samaritan Catholic Primary School having served in this role from 1995 until 2014. After a period of illness, he peacefully passed away on 14 August 2023.
When Bob opened this school on a rocky, barren paddock, Roxburgh Park was a fledging suburb that was searching to find its identity. Yet, in a short space of time, he had developed the school into a vibrant and cultuallly diverse community for over 700 children and their familes. Under Bob’s leadership the school grew to be a centre of community life for many families – it became a place where they were warmly welcomed and nurtured. He had establshed Good Samaritan as a faith filled place of learning and celebration.
A person of deep faith, Bob was a faithful servant to the Church and this community. Bob’s leadership bore witness to Christ’s instruction to ‘Go and do the same’ – he led this School with grace, passion and a deep love for the children and families he served.
Bob will be remembered by this community not only as a highly skilled educator, but as a great model of what this school stands for: justice, mercy, compassion and respect.
Fortunately, many school communities and countless families, children and staff have had the privilege of knowing Bob. Having worked in Catholic education, across a number of schools for over 40 years, he established many long lasting and treasured relationships.
During this sad time, our thoughts and prayers are with Bob’s wife Elizabeth and his daughter’s Bridget, Genevieve, Gabrielle and Domenique.
Bob will greatly be missed.
